Vlaardingen

Vlaardingen vlärˈdĭng-ən [key], city (1994 pop. 73,820), South Holland prov., SW Netherlands, on the Nieuwe Maas (New Meuse) River, near Rotterdam. It is an industrial city, a major port, and a fishing center, especially for herring and cod.
