The Question:
I have to make a mask of a false face for Social Studies and I am not sure how to make it out of. How would you suggest I use to make the mask?

Your Answer:
Well, if you like getting your hands dirty you should try making your mask with papier-mâché! Most arts and crafts stores sell papier-mâché (which is pronounced like "paper mashay") mix, but you can make your own at home with newspaper, flour and warm water. Basically, you cut up the paper into strips and soak it in a flour/water paste, and build the mask up, layer by layer, right on your own face. You would need help from somebody else, though, and it can take a long time for the mask to dry. Check out these photos of fifth-graders building masks this way!
You could also build something with dry materials. A simple paper plate and some string (to tie the mask on) is a good start, though you would want to decorate your mask creatively. Have fun!
