Alor Setar

Alor Setar (ä'lôr setär') [key]or Alor Star (stär) [key], city (1991 pop. 165,113), capital of Kedah, Malaysia, central Malay Peninsula, on the Kedah River. It is a major center for trade in rice and rubber. The residence of the Sultan of Kedah is in the city.
