Arensky, Anton StepanovichArensky, Anton Stepanovich (untôn' styipä'nuvich ären'skē) [key], 1861–1906, Russian composer; pupil of Rimsky-Korsakov at the St. Petersburg Conservatory. After 1882 he taught at the Moscow Conservatory and became (1895) conductor of the Imperial Chapel Choir. He wrote operas, including A Dream on the Volga (Moscow, 1890), chamber and orchestra music, songs, and piano works. The Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia, 6th ed.
