Chaux-de-Fonds, La

Chaux-de-Fonds, La (lä shō-du-fôN') [key], city (1990 pop. 36,894), Neuchâtel canton, NW Switzerland, in the Jura Mts., near the French border. It is one of the largest watch-manufacturing centers in Switzerland.
