Delémont

Delémont (dulāmôN') [key], Ger. Delsberg, town (1990 pop. 11,355), capital of Jura canton, NW Switzerland. A watchmaking center of the Bernese Jura, it was once the residence (1528–1792) of the prince-bishops of Basel. An 18th-century episcopal palace still stands. In 1979 it became the capital of the newly formed Jura canton.
