Icaza, JorgeIcaza, Jorge (hôr'hā ēkä'sä) [key], 1906–78, Ecuadorian novelist. Icaza wrote in harsh, realistic terms against the exploitation of the Native American. His novel En las calles [in the streets] won him acclaim in 1935. Among his other works are the novels Huasipungo (1934), Cholos (1938), and El chulla Romero y Flores (1958) and the short stories collected in Relatos (1969).
