Manzanares

Manzanares (mänthänä'rās) [key], river, c.55 mi (90 km) long; rising in the Sierra de Guadarrama, central Spain, and flowing S past Madrid (where it is canalized) into the Jarama River. The Manzanares is used for irrigation and hydroelectric-power generation.
