Paamiut (pä'mēOOt") [key], formerly Frederikshåb (fri&thstrok;'rigzhôp") [key], town (1996 pop. 2,040), Paamiut dist., SW Greenland; founded in 1792. Fishing, seal hunting, and sheep raising are the main occupations.
