Ptolemy IX

Ptolemy IX (Ptolemy Alexander), d. 88 B.C., king of ancient Egypt (107 B.C.–88 B.C.), of the Macedonian dynasty, brother of Ptolemy VIII. He was governor in Cyprus when called (110 B.C.) by his mother to be coruler with his brother. He became sole king in 107 B.C. He was ousted by a revolt in Alexandria and died when trying to recover the kingdom.
