Taitung

Taitung or T'ai-tung (both: tī'doong') [key], city (1995 pop. 110,095), W Taiwan. Rice, sugarcane, and peanuts are the major crops marketed and processed in Taitung. The lack of an adequate harbor has hindered the city's industrial growth.
