John William King, 24, and Lawrence Russell Brewer, 32, white supremacists, were convicted and sentenced to death by Texas juries for their involvement in the 1998 dragging death of James Byrd, Jr., 49, their black victim. The third defendant, Shawn Allen Berry, 24, still faces trial.
