Dale Earnhardt, NASCAR champion, was killed in the final lap at February's Daytona 500 when his car crashed into a wall. Earnhardt was an icon on the race-car circuit, and was as adept at marketing himself as he was at boldly navigating the race track. He was the all-time NASCAR money leader with over $41 million won and sixth on career wins list with 76 victories.
