Gary Oldman

actor, director
Born: 3/21/1958
Birthplace: London, England

Oldman is known for his mastery of accents and psychotic roles like Sid Vicious (Sid and Nancy, 1986) and assassin Lee Harvey Oswald (Oliver Stone's JFK, 1991). After graduating cum laude from Rose Bruford School of Speech and Drama, Oldman toured Europe and South America as a member of the Glasgow Citizen's Theater. His feature films include Immortal Beloved (1994), Dracula (1992), Romeo is Bleeding (1993), The Fifth Element (1997), Air Force One (1997), Lost In Space (1998), The Contender (2000) and Hannibal (2001). His first writing and directing project Nil By Mouth (1997) was nominated for two awards at Cannes and won a BAFTA Award for best screenplay. It features startling insight into the (presumably autobiographical) life inside a working-class dysfunctional family.
