Noam Chomsky

A professor of linguistics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Chomsky pioneered the theory of transformational generative grammar in his book Syntactic Structures (1957). He denounced the Vietnam War and became a well-known activist in the radical left movement. He published American Power and the New Mandarins (1969) about American ideology in foreign nations and has continues to write about both language and politics.
