Eddie Murphy

actor, comedian
Born: 4/3/1961

Film actor and comedian best known for his roles in movies such as 48 Hours (1982) and Beverly Hills Cop (1984). Murphy started out on Saturday Night Live in the early eighties, and has done mostly films since then. His comedy is sometimes raw, sometimes vulgar, almost always good. He has the incredible ability to transform himself into a character to the point where he himself is unrecognizable. Film credits include Trading Places (1983), The Golden Child (1986), Coming to America (1988), The Nutty Professor (he played eight characters, 1996), Doctor Dolittle (1998), Bowfinger (1999), Nutty Professor II: The Klumps (he played nine characters, 2000), the voiceover for the donkey in the animated Shrek (2001), Shrek 2 (2004) and Shrek the Third (2007), Doctor Dolittle 2 (2001), and Daddy Day Care (2003). His role of James “Thunder” Early in Dreamgirls (2006) received rave reviews and several award nominations.
