He won critical attention in The Heartbreak Kid (1972), Heaven Can Wait (1979), and Midnight Run (1988), and recently appeared opposite a St. Bernard in the Beethoven movies (1992, 1993). An accomplished writer, director, and producer, he has authored three books, including It Would Be So Nice If You Weren't Here (1989). He currently hosts a prime-time talk show on MSNBC.
