Actor known as “the man of a thousand faces. ” Chaney specialized in using make-up to transform himself into grotesque, often distorted, figures. His films include The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1923) and The Phantom of the Opera (1925). His son was Lon Chaney, Jr. (Creighton Chaney)
