She is the singer in the band Hole, whose recordings include Pretty on the Inside (1991) and the critically acclaimed Live Through This (1994). She has appeared in several films, including starring roles in The People vs. Larry Flint (1996), Man on the Moon (1999), Julie Johnson (2001), and as narrator for the documentary Clara Bow: Discovering the It Girl (1999) .
