Country and western singer known for her plaintive singing style and her rags-to-riches life story portrayed in the 1980 film Coal Miner's Daughter. Her recordings include “Honky Tonk Girl” (1960) and Honky Tonk Heroes (1978). She made several records with Conway Twitty.
