Academy Award-winning actor and director known for his piercing blue eyes and the immediacy of his acting. His films include Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1958), The Hustler (1961), Hud (1963), Cool Hand Luke (1967), Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969), The Sting (1973), The Color of Money (1986, for which he won an Academy Award) and Message in a Bottle (1999). He is married to Academy Award-winning actress Joanne Woodward.
