Sir Laurence Olivier

Academy and Emmy Award-winning film and stage actor best known for his roles in Shakespearean works. His films include Pride and Prejudice (1940), Henry V (1945) and Hamlet (1948). He headed London's National Theatre Company (1962–73). England's premier theater awards are named in his honor. He was married to actress Vivien Leigh (1940–60) and to actress Joan Plowright (1960–89).
