The quintessential Italian actor starred in more than 120 films, including Fellini's La Dolce Vita and 81/2, and is best remembered for his romantic charm as a Latin lover. Fellini once called Mastroianni his alter ego. Though the actor was a favorite of Fellini's, he is also known for his screen partnership with Sophia Loren. They appeared in 12 films together, including Marriage, Italian Style, Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow, and Ready to Wear.
