Carmen Miranda

Film and stage actress who started her career as a club singer in Brazil and got her break when a Broadway producer recruited her. When she came to America, she was never able to shed her image as a fruit dancer. Her films include Down Argentine Way (1940) and That Night in Rio (1941) and her Broadway credits include Streets of Paris (1939).
