In his nearly 40-year career with ABC he held a number of important positions and was noted especially as director of technical operations for the coverage of major special events. His work included 12 political conventions and 9 Olympic Games, and he was also one of the key people involved in the development of closed-captioning. In 1995 he was awarded an Emmy for his contribution to television production and distribution.
