Regis Philbin

Emmy-award winning co-host of the popular day-time television show Live! With Regis & Kathie Lee (1989– ). The former news anchor first worked in television as a page for the Tonight Show, then as a regional newscaster in southern California. He was a sportscaster in San Diego before gaining national exposure on The Joey Bishop Show (1967–69) where he was featured regularly as the butt of Joey's jokes. He hosted The Regis Philbin Show (1981–89), for which he won an Emmy, before he teamed up with Kathie Lee Gifford to host the talk show with the fastest growing audience in the country, with an estimated 18 million weekly viewers. In the year 2000, Philbin hosted television game-show phenomenon Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?
