She was, at age 10, the youngest actor ever to win such an award. She followed this success with The Bad News Bears (1976), Nickelodeon (1976), and International Velvet (1978). She appeared in the TV movie Woman on the Run (1993) and played the lead part of Camille in The Scoundrel's Wife (2002). O'Neal was married for a time to tennis star John McEnroe.
