Michael Cimino

He is best known for his movie The Deer Hunter (1978), which he conceived, directed, and produced; the film won Academy Awards for Best Director and Best Picture. His other film credits include Silent Running (1971) and Magnum Force (1973), which he wrote the screenplays for, and Thunderbolt and Lightfoot (1974) and Heaven's Gate (1980), which he wrote and directed.
