Meg Ryan

Having paid her New York University tuition bills by performing in commercials, Ryan abandoned the books her sophomore year to work in her first feature film, Rich and Famous (1981). The role, however small, led to a two-year stint on the daytime drama As the World Turns.

Her exuberance and and innocent charm landed her romantic leads in When Harry Met Sally (1989), Sleepless in Seattle (1993), City of Angels (1998), and Kate and Leopold (2001). But she is more than a pretty face, proving that she can take on dramatic and comedic roles with equal aplomb, giving strong performances in When a Man Loves a Woman (1994) and Courage Under Fire (1996). She also was a member of the cast of the 2006 remake of The Women.
