Swoosie Kurtz actressBorn: 9/6/1944 Birthplace: Omaha, Nebraska Named after her father's World War II plane, Swoosie Kurtz has soared over Broadway, Tinseltown, and the world of television. She began her career in regional theater and soon made a name for herself on the New York stage, winning numerous awards, including an Obie, a Tony, and a Drama Desk; she did an acclaimed turn as Bananas in John Guare's House of Blue Leaves. In 1971 she made her television debut, as a regular character on the soap As the World Turns. Her movie career found a rocky start in the 1977 turkey First Love but took off in the 1980s and 1990s with starring roles in such illustrious films as The World According to Garp (1982), Dangerous Liaisons (1988) and Bubble Boy (2001).
