Robert Saudek

A broadcasting executive who developed radio documentaries on social and political issues, Saudek is best remembered for producing the TV program Omnibus (1952–61), a showcase of art and culture that was both educational and fun. Hosted by Alistair Cooke, the show's guests included Leonard Bernstein, Igor Stravinsky, Dr. Seuss, Aaron Copland, Jacques Cousteau, Jack Benny, and Japanese kabuki dancers. Saudek was also the founding president of the Museum of Broadcasting (now the Museum of Television and Radio) and became head of the Library of Congress's division on broadcasting.
