Martin Short

Short won the lead role in the Toronto production of Godspell (1972–73), but his zany improvisations with the Second City comedy group, which he joined in 1977, launched him on a successful career as a comedian. He was a regular on Saturday Night Live (1984–85) before breaking into film. His screen appearances include Father of the Bride (1991), Father of the Bride Part II (1995), Mars Attacks! (1996), and Mumford (1998). Short played the part of the Mad Hatter in the television play of Alice in Wonderland (1999). He was both executive producer of and actor in The Martin Short Show (1994–95) on television, and 1999 he launched a talk show called The Martin Short Show (1999–2000), followed by Primetime Glick (2001) starring the character Jiminy Glick, played by Short. Made-for-television films include Prince Charming (2001).
