Shania Twain(Eileen Regina Twain)
Birthplace: Windsor, Ontario, Canada
Part of the Canadian influx that is flooding Nashville, Twain has sold more albums than any other female country singer. Her debut album, Shania Twain (1993), was followed by The Woman in Me (1995), which went double platinum in six months and won a Grammy for best country album. It included the hits “Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?” and “Any Man of Mine.” Her Come on Over (1998), shot ahead of her first album and is on RIAA's all-time bestselling list. She continues to release platinum discs with Up! (2002) and Greatest Hits (2004). Twain's stepfather was an Ojibwa Indian, and the name Shania means “I'm on my way” in that native tongue.
