Lewis Hastings Sarett

The process of treating pregnene compounds—Sarett prepared the first synthetic cortisone. He and several collaborators developed synthesis from raw materials derived from coal, air, lime and water, leading to the first route which was independent of naturally occurring starting materials. (1980)
