McMahon also hosted the long-running syndicated talent show Star Search. A highly sought-after pitchman, he has performed in commercials, endorsing a range of products from dog food to beer to the Publishers Clearinghouse Sweepstakes. In addition, he has appeared in the situation comedy The Tom Show (1997–98), and in several films, including Fun With Dick and Jane (1976) and Butterfly (1981).
