Sir John Richard Hicks

Born: 4/8/1904
Birthplace: Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, England

Nobel Prize-winning economist whose works include Value and Capital (1939), A Theory of Economic History (1969) and Causality in Economics (1979). An Oxford graduate, he taught for several years at Manchester (1938–46) and Oxford (1952–65), but did not receive the Nobel for Economics until after his retirement.
