Virginia Postrel

After graduating from Princeton University with a BA in English, Postrel was a reporter for Inc., a business publication, the Wall Street Journal, and an associate editor of Reason, a libertarian magazine. In 1989 she was named editor of Reason. She also writes a monthly feature, “Economic Scene,” for the New York Times business section. Her work also periodically appears in Forbes magazine, the Los Angeles Times and the Washington Post. Called a libertarian manifesto, her book, The Future and Its Enemies: The Growing Conflict over Creativity, Enterprise and Progress, was published in 1998. Her 2004 book The Substance of Style argues that fashion is important.
