Danish-born musical comedian who combined virtuosic piano skills, a sharp wit, sight gags, and an irrepressible sense of humor in his stage performances. His Broadway production, Comedy in Music, ran for an unprecedented 849 performances. Borge left Europe for the United States in 1940 to escape the Nazis.
