Michael Phelps

American Swimmer

Tied with Russian gymnast Aleksandr Dityatin as the winningest athlete at a single Olympic Games, having earned eight medals in Athens. Phelps won the 100 and 200m butterfly, the 200 and 400m individual medley, the 4x100m medley relay, and the 4x200m free relay. He received bronze medals in the 200m free and 4x100m free relay. He broke his own world record in the 400m individual medley with a time of 4:8.26.
