  • Unemployment Rises as Job Growth Slows (June 3): The U.S. adds only 25,000 jobs in May, a sharp decline after several months of job growth. In each of the three previous months about 220,000 jobs were added. May's result is only a third of what economists predicted for the month. Meanwhile, the unemployment rate increases from 9.0% in April to 9.1% in May.
