America’s Best Hospitals, 2011

The annual U.S. News & World Report list of the United States' best hospitals is prepared by the National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago. Nearly 5,000 medical centers were analyzed to produce this year's list recognizing 15 hospitals, each of which excels in many specialties. Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Md. has topped the list for 20 years.

  9. Duke University Medical Center, Durham, N.C.

  10. Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pa.

  11. Barnes–Jewish Hospital/Washington University, St. Louis, Mo.

  12. University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Pittsburgh, Pa.

  13. University of Washington Medical Center, Seattle, Wash.

  14. University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers, Ann Arbor, Mich.

  15. Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, Tenn.
