The cooking of land-locked, mountainous Laos is similar to the tropical cuisines of neighboring Cambodia and Vietnam, however seafood is not common.

Common ingredients:

Mortar and Herbs

chicken, meat, tropical fruit, vegetables, rice, spices

Popular dishes:

ginger chicken; soups, rice noodles, khao poon (spiced coconut milk and rice-like noodles); fish sauce
