The Lion King (1994)
Disney's animated coming-of-age story wowed critics, parents, and children and topped 1994's box-office charts, grossing nearly $300 million. The musical tale of the jungle remains among the top-grossing kids' and animated films of all time. The Lion King's skillful combination of high drama and hip comedy makes it a fun watch for the whole family. The film inspired the 1997 blockbuster Broadway musical, which won six Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Choreographer (Julie Taymor).
