NBA Draft Preview

by Kevin Foley

The word of the day in Vancouver on Wednesday will be trades. The combination of a threatened lockout on July 1st and the lack of high-profile prospects have general managers scratching their heads as they try to find the next sleeper of the NBA. Regardless, a handful have stepped forward as the elite prospects and they predominantly hail from the traditional basketball breeding grounds of North Carolina, Utah, Kentucky, Kansas, Michigan and Arizona. Draft Night will once again contain many questions including the potential of many unknowns such as seven-footer Michael Olowokandi from the University of the Pacific and freshman Larry Hughes of St. Louis. Trades will highlight the night. Superstars such as David Robinson, Penny Hardaway, Latrell Sprewell, Hakeem Olajuwon, Antoine Walker and Allen Iverson could end the evening on different teams. Who says March is the month of basketball madness? Let the mayhem begin...
