World Cup: Yugoslavia

Yugoslavia (Group F)

FIFA World Ranking: 8

Players to Watch: Predrag Mijatovic (F), Dragan Stojkovic (M), Sinisa Mihajlovic (D)

Prospects: Yugoslavia can score goals in bunches. That could be a big factor in the first round. If the US and Yugoslavia tie and assuming both lose to Germany and beat Iran, the team that advances to the second round will be the team with the superior goal differential. Predrag Mijatovic, a star with Real Madrid, scored an amazing 14 goals during qualification and in 1997 was runner-up to Ronaldo as European Footballer of the Year. This team could very well be the second team, after Germany, to advance from Group F. The US can forget the hope that the Yugoslavian national team is the worst thing to come out of that country since the Yugo hit auto showrooms.

First Round opponents: Iran (6/14), Germany (6/21), United States (6/25)
