What a grand opening! Last Friday, 13,000 performers and 10,800 athletes filled Olympic Stadium in Sydney, Australia. Sydney welcomed the world with fireworks and music.

For the U.S. women's soccer team, the Games began before opening day. They beat Norway 2-0 on September 14. Mia Hamm, scored a goal.
