The east coast of the United States was slammed with a furious storm on this day in 1962. By the time it was over, the storm would cause over $200 million in property damage all the way from Florida to Maine. Forty-foot waves struck the Mid-Atlantic coast and up to 33 inches of snow covered the mountains of Virginia.
