Walsh), a Representative from New York; born in Syracuse, Onondaga County, N.Y., June 19, 1947; graduated from Christian Brothers Academy, Syracuse, N.Y., 1966; B.A., St. Bonaventure University, St. Bonaventure, N.Y., 1970; United States Peace Corps, 1970-1972; business executive; member of the Syracuse, N.Y., common council, 1977-1985, president, 1985-1988; elected as a Republican to the One Hundred First and to the nine succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1989-January 3, 2009); was not a candidate for reelection to the One Hundred Eleventh Congress in 2008.
