Heraclea

Heraclea hĕrəklē´ə [key], ancient Greek city, in Lucania, S Italy, not far from the Gulf of Tarentum (Taranto). There Pyrrhus defeated the Romans in 280 BC Bronze tablets giving Roman municipal laws were found nearby.
