Helps, Sir Arthur

Helps, Sir Arthur, 1813–75, English historian and author. His works include Friends in Council (3 series, 1847–59), dialogues on social and intellectual subjects The Spanish Conquest in America (4 vol., 1855–61) Realmah (1868), a political novel and The Life of Columbus (1869). He edited the published speeches of Prince Albert and the works of Queen Victoria.
